Salesian Sisters

History

The Congregation had a dramatic development, largely due to its association with the Salesians. Wherever they went, we followed close behind. Mother Mazzarello was only a Sister for nine years but at the time of her death in 1881, the congregation had houses in Italy, France and had even started its missionary work in Uruguay, South America; moving quickly into the Argentine and right down to the southernmost tip of the Continent to Punta Arenas, Chile. The expansion in Europe and in South America moved in parallel.
