SONG OF LIGHT

You are the light that strikes me in the morning

A premature light in which I am cold, alone and insecure.

Let me see in your light, the darkness slip away.

Cover me with your light and follow me through the day.

You are the light I look up to in the day

not a blinding light, rather a light which stays

with me lest I forget however dark this life be

You are God here and You are enough for me.

You are the light which draws me to another

The light of love and joy and laughter

You stay with us, You pray in us, You make us one.

If I but face the truth and not put myself beyond reach.

You are the persistent light that overcomes

All my anxieties, all my weaknesses.

You are the light which picks out the child in me

You bear me up, you cover me, you let me be.

You are the evening light which shows me clearly,

that everything will yield and be blown away,

save that which finds a home in you,

save that which is grafted on to your light.
